“When you listen to Bruce’s music, you aren’t a loser. You are a character in an epic poem … about losers”

The Kennedy Center Honors aired last night, and of course I didn't miss it. (I even recorded it)

anyways, every year I always find the presentations so moving. The honorees are always so deserving, and when I hear about their life stories and accomplishments, it makes me want to be an American too. Not that I'm not proud of being a Canadian, I love my country, but Americans are so proud of who they are. And if there's one person who loves his country to the death, it's gotta be 'The Boss'.

to anyone who has been to one of his concerts, you are one lucky person. i'm praying for the day when he tours again. If you've never heard a Bruce Springsteen song, then you are missing out. His songs are stories, they take you on a journey, you don't feel so alone when you hear his voice singing about your life, about the things you go through, they give you hope. That's why he's The Boss.

“People deserve. . . the truth. They deserve honesty. The best music, you can seek some shelter in it momentarily, but it's essentially there to provide you something to face the world with.”

-Bruce Springsteen

There's a dark cloud rising from the desert floor
I packed my bags and I'm heading straight into the storm
Gonna be a twister to blow everything down
That ain't got the faith to stand its ground
Blow away the dreams that tear you apart
Blow away the dreams that break your heart
Blow away the lies that leave you nothing but lost and brokenhearted

A crowd of people stood and stared, they'd seen his face before.

Amen to that. RIP John, you'll always be a legend.

stuck in a moment

one word: PALLADIUM

so at first I thought I'd use my savings to get myself a good pair of Doc Martens, but after I spent some time tonight on the Palladium Boots site, I have completely changed my mind. I am for sure saving up to get myself a pair of Palladium's. I still love Martens, but Palladium Boots are just too good to ignore. If you haven't checked out the website, then go! check it out now! And, if I may, you cannot leave the site without watching their exploration videos. So far they only have four, but they're über interesting. My personal fav is the Missile Silo Homes.

run it back with original flavor

for some strange reason I only came across these promos now, and I gotta say they make me very happy. it might be the colour of the photos, or it might be how fun and exuberant Lady Gaga looks in them. whatever the reason I am very gaga over Gaga right now. I can't even count how many times I've listened to 'Bad Romance'. I'll most likely be making more posts about her and her insane style since I am now very inspired by her look.

take a double shot

so I thought I'd stick to the same old poses................
but.........

I was pretty damn bored today, so I thought I'd try out action shots. All I really did was move around a lot while my camera was taking photos. I'm quite impressed that they didn't turn out super blurry.
wearing: navy blue blazer-Value Village ($7!!), light blue raglan-American Apparel, high-waist denim skirt-H&M.

However, it was really cold today. And although I've lived in Canada my entire life, I still cannot get used to the weather............

so I put on the warmest over-sized cardigan you can imagine

ACTION TIME!

and i saved the best for last.......

i'm baaaaaack

For now, at least.

I've unfortunately been incredibly busy with school......... okay maybe not. I've just had no inspiration, absolutely none.

Just a few details of what I have been doing with my life so far:

VANCOUVER FASHION WEEK

just some highlights. nothing like NY Fashion Week, but I was glad to be at my first fashion show.

KISS

I never ever ever thought I would see Kiss in concert, however my dad surprised me with tickets the night before the concert. Yeah, I love my life. Mrs.Gene Simmons herself, Shannon Tweed, showed up before the concert started. And to be completely honest, she is a hot mom. Just thought I'd put it out there........ The concert was a BLAST, and I think I had an ever better time than I did at AC/DC.

WOLFMOTHER
So I started listening to Wolfmother A LOT, in these past few months and when I heard they were coming here for a concert, I totally freaked. Luckily I had enough cash on me to pay for my ticket, so my super cool aunt and I hit up the concert this past Saturday. Funnest concert ever, so far. I literally had so much fun, I never sat down once. And the crowd was so rowdy. People in the front row never stopped jumping up on stage, by the end the security guards pratically gave up. I'd definitely go see them again.

"For those about to rock, we salute you!!!!!!"

I unfortunately have to keep this short because I still need to pack for my annual trip to Whistler! So as you can see from the pictures, I went to my first AC/DC concert!!!! And lemme tell you it was a night I will never forget. So a few months ago my dad surprised me with tickets, and it never hit me that I would be seeing Angus, Brian, Cliff, Malcolm, and Phil live on stage until I was at the concert last night. The Answer was their opening act, and they were pretty good, but when the lights went out, and the train rolled onto the stage, the crowd just went INSANE! The first song of the night was of course Rock N Roll Train. And it was very intense. The rest of the list included Back in Black, You Shook Me All Night Long, For Those About to Rock, you know what I mean. And they came out with two encores. Only two? you might ask, well yes, but what do you expect from a bunch of rockers from the 70s who put on a 2 hour show, straight?! And there were even fireworks! I loved it, and I am so glad I was able to experience AC/DC live before they retire for good.

"Hey, Cameron. You realize if we played by the rules right now we'd be in gym? "

Sixteen Candles
"When you don't have anything, you don't have anything to lose. Right?"

The Breakfast Club
"We're all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it, that's all. "

Weird Science
"You know, there's going to be sex, drugs, rock-n-roll... chips, dips, chains, whips... You know, your basic high school orgy type of thing. I mean, uh, I'm not talking candlewax on the nipples, or witchcraft or anything like that, no, no, no. Just a couple of hundred kids running around in their underwear, acting like complete animals. "

Ferris Bueller's Day Off
"The key to faking out the parents is the clammy hands. It's a good non-specific symptom; I'm a big believer in it. A lot of people will tell you that a good phony fever is a dead lock, but, uh... you get a nervous mother, you could wind up in a doctor's office. That's worse than school. You fake a stomach cramp, and when you're bent over, moaning and wailing, you lick your palms. It's a little childish and stupid, but then, so is high school. "

Pretty in Pink
"This is an incredibly romantic moment, and you're ruining it for me! "

RIP JOHN HUGHES

Your movies never cease to help me out on a bad day.

feels like heaven

Haven't blogged in a while. And it feels good to be back! I just haven't had much inspiration in a while and I've been busy enjoying summer. So today, I finally finished my skirt! I have to admit that I am totally in love with it. Hope you all feel the same way too.

Anyways, two days ago I finally watched all of "A Fish Called Wanda" and I loved it. If you have not seen it, go watch it! It's hilarious, definitely one of my favorite comedies.

"Aristotle was not Belgian, the principle of Buddhism is not "every man for himself", and the London Underground is not a political movement."

So today I watched a bit of the movie "A Fish Called Wanda" and I gotta say that I liked it a lot. It stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline, and John Cleese. It's a comedy mostly about a jewel heist and the people involved in it. Anyways, I found it quite funny, but it's definitely not for kids. Next time it's on TV, I have to watch the full movie. And I've realized how good of an actor Kevin Kline can be, he totally deserved that Academy Award.
